COURSE OVERVIEW

This course adheres to the new Confined Spaces Regulations which sets out the requirements for suitable and sufficient training for persons who enter confined spaces during the course of their work. The Regulations define a confined space as any vat, pit, flue, tank, sewer, drain and any other similar space by virtue of its nature there is a reasonably foreseeable risk to health and safety. Those persons who are ‘at risk’ must receive suitable training before entering a confined space.

– The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 & Approved Code of Practice
– Identify risks and their control
– Hazardous atmospheres and gas monitoring
– Risk assessing residual hazards
– Use of permit-to-work control measures
– Personal protection and hygiene requirements
– Use of Escape Breathing Apparatus
– Use of short term duration working Breathing Apparatus
– Self rescue procedures
– Practical exercises in confined spaces
