COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will provide an overview of attachment theory and its implications in practice.

An understanding of attachment theory can be helpful when working with children in care and/or those with behavioural difficulties.

COURSE CONTENT

– Attachment theory (based on John Bowlby).
– Assessment of attachment – “The Strange Situation” (Mary Ainsworth 1978).
– Classification – groups of attachment.
– Linking to practice.
